This is a REGISTRY HACK for UMAX 600s SCSI scanner. The Windows 2000 drivers WILL WORK in Windows XP if you change the registry key HKEY_Local_Machine - Software - Microsoft - Windows NT - Current Version and change 'Microsoft Windows XP' to 'Microsoft Windows 2000'. Then install this Windows 2000 driver for the SCSI adapter IS11 - use the add new device option in control panel. Don't let the computer reboot... cancel the reboot, then change the registry key back to 'Microsoft Windows XP' then reboot. Go to device manager, and you may see an exclamation mark by the SCSI adapter. To fix this, change the resource setting to 0300-031F. After reboot, Windows XP will detect the scanner and install the necessary software. It worked on my Umax 600s, and should work with other SCSI scanners in the UMAX range.
